This award supports an exchange of planning visits associated with developing collaborative research on the applicability of Networked Control Systems (NCS) to critical multi-variable systems. The research challenge is to model and design closed loop systems where the communication networks are complex and performance may be stochastic. US PI Mo-Yuen Chow, North Carolina State University and Indian collaborator Amitava Gupta, Jadavpur University and two of their doctoral students will assess the facilities at each others laboratories and undertake experimental testing. This will provide valuable feedback information that will enable them to finalize a joint research proposal for submission to NSF and to India's Department of Science & Technology under the NSF/DST Joint Program.
