This proposal is to develop a research and training program for undergraduate students at SUNY College at Oswego in collaboration with Dr. Antonio Kanaan in the Physics department at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil and the Brazilian National Observatory (LNA). Students will be involved in projects to develop a fully functional robotic telescope, situated at LNA, open for use by the Brazilian scientific community. Student projects will then use the telescope to augment existing Galactic and Magellanic Cloud Cepheid data in the optical BVIR bands, and study other time-variable astronomical phenomena such as white dwarfs and fast rotating Ap stars.
