The proposed multi-university Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Advanced Cutting Tool Technology intends to develop the fundamental science and technology necessary for the development of advanced cutting tools. The proposed center will consist of Michigan State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and industrial partners ranging from cutting tool manufacturers and manufacturing industries. The proposed center will serve as a consortium of cutting tool manufacturers and manufacturing industries, where unsettled and new challenges are posed, discussed and resolved to improve their competitiveness. The main object of the planning meeting is to hold a workshop to bring potential industrial partners together in order to identify urgent challenges associated with cutting tools.
