This grant provides funds for the American Institute of Architects to run a student contest for the design of a new research station to be located at South Pole, Antarctica. Architectural students at north american schools will be eligible. The winning entry will be selected by a jury of designers and scientists. NSF will provide the prize in the form of a trip to South Pole for the winning team and their faculty advisor.
