Quark-flavor research will be conducted by the Rensselaer Polytechnic group using the CLEOc facility at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). The CESR/CLEOc laboratory has embarked on an aggressive program of research in the charm-quark sector which will result in data samples that far exceed all previous measurements. Detailed tests of lattice QCD methods will be performed by measuring hadronic and leptonic meson decays. These will greatly increase the accuracy of quark-mixing experiments. Rare-decay studies will search for evidence of dark-matter particles and other non-standard model physics. Graduate, undergraduate and other physics students will participate in the research program.
