Strongly interacting particles, hadrons, have structure which is only qualitatively understood at present. The recent discovery of an exotic meson suggests that new spectroscopic studies may reveal previously unknown details of quark0gluon dynamics. Such states cannot be accommodated within the simple quark model of hadrons. Experiments are underway at Brookhaven National Laboratory to measure multi- particle decays of exotic mesons. Future experiments with photon beams will be carried out at Jefferson Laboratory.
