The SGER project will lay the groundwork for a very innovate study of the relationship between language revitalization efforts and social organization. The Yup'ik community members are full participants in the research design and evaluation of the research itself. This project will not only provide a very innovative pilot project for community participatory research in the Arctic, it can provide insights into language revitalization programs, which potentially could affect the structure of the way people learn language.
