This award to the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat is for the hire of the icebreaker ODEN for breaking an ice channel to McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Through special contracting authority, the ODEN will work with the USCG POLAR SEA to complete the break in, groom the shipping channel, and provide escort services for US resupply vessels to McMurdo Station during the 2006-2007 field season.
This award of $5,428,580 provides the estimated funding for the mobilization and de-mobilization of the ODEN between Sweden and McMurdo Station.
