The long-term objective ofthis project is to create a scalable, affordable training and support system for comunity anti-drug coalitions. While training on various elecments of coalition effectiveness is available, market studies (see below) show that coalitions find this training to be inconvenient, expensive, incomplete, piecemeal and unconnected to post-training support. Therefore, coalitions lacke the full range of specific training and support required to start, operate and sustain coalitions capable of achieving desired outcomes. Creation of a complete internet-based curriculum that results in knowledge and skill attainment and is delivered directly to learners would aleviate these challenges. Specifically, Phase II of this project aims to create and test a valid and reliable internet-based content delivery and knowledge/skill testing mechanism for fifteen core competencies necessary for coalition success. Phase II will produece a training modules delivered via the World Wide Web with corresponding knowledge and skill testing that produces results equivalent to in-person training. An existing classroom curriculum will be modified for internet-based delivery using principles of adult learning and internet-based instruction. Knowledge and skill assessments will be created for the learning module and also translated into an effective internet-based assessment mechanism.
