This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The purpose of this research study is to understand how the immune system of individuals recently infected with HIV or recently exposed to HIV responds to the virus and to compare these responses to those in individuals with chronic infection. This study will also examine whether host genes (DNA) affect immune response to HIV and/or are associated with protection from HIV infection or HIV disease progression if infected.
