This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Purpose: To find out if adding raltegravir reduces the amount of HIV in the blood using a test that measures very low amounts of the virus.Participants: 50 HIV-1 infected men and women.Procedures (methods): A5244 is double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study. At study entry the subjects will be randomized to one of the following arms: Arm A (immediateintensification) or Arm B (delayed intensification).
