Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is an open label, AUC controlled study to determine the dosing regimen, safety and pharmacokinetics of liquid efavirenz in combination with nelfinavir in HIV-infected infants and children. Secondary objectives are to characterize the effect of this combination on antiviral activity, CD4/CD8 counts, duration of response and genotypic/phenotypic antiretroviral sensitivity of latent virus in PBMCs.
