This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Persons with schizophrenia show impaired learning on movement tasks. Specifically, we have found in previous studies that schizophrenia p patients fail to show overnight improvement on a motor task. We are investigating whether this failure is due to problems with processes that occur during sleep. To examine this, we are proposing a study involving a computerized motor learning task and polysomnography during an overnight stay at the GCRC.
