Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.A novel [2]-rotaxane has been prepd. in which perfluoropropyl stoppers have been utilized as electronic blocking groups. To further investigate this capability, a linear compd. that was precapped with perfluoropropyl groups was also prepd. This compd. did not demonstrate rotaxane formation when mixed with dibenzo-24-crown-8, providing further evidence that the perfluoropropyl groups were effective electronic stoppers for the macrocycle
