To further investigate this capability, a linear compd. that was precapped with perfluoropropyl groups was also prepd. This compd. did not demonstrate rotaxane formation when mixed with dibenzo-24-crown-8, providing further evidence that the perfluoropropyl groups were effective electronic stoppers for the macrocycle
