This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.CESG is doing high-throughput structure determination of Arabidopsis proteins and is an NIH pilot project. CESG-000041-000, the protein under study in this experiment, is a ~13 kDa N-terminal His-tagged protein. The cDNA clone was obtained from R. Vierstra at U.W.-Madison and is named APG8a in that lab. It may be involved in protein degradation as part of the proteosome. It is highly homologous to the Bos tauraus Gate-16 protein, for which a structure is known (it has a ubiquitin fold). The purpose of this experiment determine whether the purified protein is folded, using a 1-dimensional NMR experiment (HSQC).
