? The purpose of the Conference on Pathophysiology and Nosology of Keratinocyte Neoplasia will be to commingle scientists in the field of epidermal keratinocytic neoplasia, practicing dermatopathologists and dermatologists to focus expertise on the topic of actinic keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma in situ. Disagreement exists regarding the nosology of these disorders. Presentations on the basic science of epidermal keratinocytic neoplasia will be juxtaposed with presentations on clinical and pathologic issues pertaining to the diagnosis of actinic keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma in situ. The goal is to engender discussion that will allow a foundation upon which to build a diagnostic scheme that reflects current knowledge in the basic sciences merged with the exigencies of clinical practice. In addition to presentations by recognized experts in the field, ample time for discussion groups will be afforded to allow for exchange of ideas and recommendations from conference participants and attendees regarding appropriate diagnostic terms. ? ? ?
