This fiscal vear has principally involved moving the department to the new Radiation Oncology Clinic in the CRC. This has involved relocation of two linear accelerators, a CT simulator and a high dose-rate radioisotope afterloader from the old ROB, as well as the purchase and installation of a new linear accelerator. We have also instuted routine dynamic IMRT. This is the most complex of IMRT treatments and requires considerable pre-treatment verification to ensure accurate execution. These treatments are delivered using our twin Clinac-21EX acceleratrors. The low energy Clinac-600C/D accelerator is used principally for stereotactic radiosurgery. The low energy treatment room is also being configured for HDR treatment. This involves the installation of control wiring; but more important, involves receiving approval of a license amandment from the USNRC prior torelocation and installation.A new tenure track radiation biophysicist has been employed and is establishing laboratory facilities. He will provide a level of clinical support as well and will provide an additional source of translational collaboration. A post-doctoral fellow has started and is participating in research projects and clinical support activities.
