Michigan State University will initiate a six-week, residential Young Scholars (EAI) project in Mathematics and Physics for 60 students entering grades 8,9. African-American, Hispanic-American, or Native-American students from Michigan with high ability or high potential will be selected to study mathematics, mathematical problem solving, physics, the use of computers in solving problems, and written and spoken technical communications. Academic year activities will include conferences at Michigan State University involving parents, mentors, and staff visits to the districts of the participants.
