This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The broad objective of the administration activity is to provide direction and oversight to the RCMI Program at Florida A&M University (FAMU). The long-term objective is to enhance the faculty s capability and understanding of grantsmanship and funding, thereby, establishing FAMU as a leader and resource center for addressing health disparities that adversely affect minority populations across the country.
The specific aims are to: 1) identify funding opportunities; 2) provide administrative support for research faculty; 3) maintain boilerplate information which includes a record of publications and submission and awards of contracts and grants; and 4) provide professional growth for the RCMI Center Office (RCO) staff and the Director of the Animal Facilities. The methods by which these objectives will be accomplished includes: 1) identifying funding opportunities for faculty using the Federal Register, Sciencewise, and Internet/World Wide Web; 2) providing administrative oversight for the research faculty using the one-stop proposal preparation process which provides word processing, editorial and graphical support, and internal and external review of projects; 3) serving as liaison between the COPPS research faculty and the University central administration, Comptroller s Office and Division of Research (DOR); 4) maintaining boilerplate information on file which contains information on publications, and contracts and grants submitted, and funded; and 5) providing RCO staff resources to attend professional meetings and workshops to keep abreast of policies regarding the submission of grant proposals and reporting guidelines of funded proposals, and for the Director of the Animal Facilities to keep abreast of policies affecting the care and use of laboratory animals.
