The objectives of this project are to ensure City of Hope's animal program and facilities remain in compliance with the PHS Policy and AAALAC Accreditation standards while providing the resources necessary for meeting the demands of City of Hope's expanding biomedical research programs. Funds for facility repairs and equipment are requested to assist in meeting these objectives. The facility repairs component specifically requests funds to help defray the costs of repairing the floors in the City of Hope's main animal facility. This is an issue which must be addressed in order to maintain compliance with existing regulatory policies. The equipment component of this project specifically requests funds to purchase eight (8) double sided cubicles and three (3) Stay-Clean Workbenches. This equipment will be installed in the institution's main animal facility in space which is currently shell-in. The City of Hope plans to complete construction of the current shell-in space in order to discontinue housing animals in at least two (2) buildings and also to meet anticipated demands for additional animal resources as current biomedical research programs are expanded, and new programs developed. The equipment requested will help permit more efficient utilization of the space currently available as shell-in.
