The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The primary purpose of this study is to demonstrate that deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the globus pallidus interna or subthalamic nucleus improves the signs of parkinsonian motor abnormalities more effectively than unilateral stimulation, and DBS is more effective than pallidotomy or medication in relieving the parkinsonian motor signs.
