This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will look at the hormone levels in the body after taking two different types of birth control, the ORTHO EVRA patch and the ORTHO NOVUM pill. It is not known if taking ORTHO EVRA or ORTHO NOVUM and your anti-HIV medication at the same time will change the amount of hormone or anti-HIV drug levels in your body. Both have been approved by the FDA but they have not been tested in HIV-1 infected women taking Kaletra before.
