This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. This study is being done to compare the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of anti-HIV drug combinations. The following drugs and drug combinations will be used in this study: ' Efavirenz (EFV) with emtricitabine (FTC) and tenofovir (TDF) ' EFV with abacavir (ABC) and lamivudine (3TC) ' Atazanavir (ATV) with ritonavir (RTV) and FTC/TDF ' ATV with RTV and ABC/3TC All of the drugs are approved by the FDA for treating HIV.
