The long-term goal of this proposal is to achieve accurate calculations of human zinc requirements - estimated average individual dietary requirements (EARs) and recommended dietary allowances (RDAs). This proposal will specifically examine the interrelationships between various factors affecting whole body zinc homeostasis, and will particularly examine the relationship between the amount of zinc absorbed from the diet and the amount of zinc eliminated in feces and urine.
