Vitamin D is important for strong bones. The use of vitamin D has been shown to reduce fractures and reduce the risk of falling. It is important for good health and may reduce the risk of cancer, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes mellitus. One goal of the study is to see if elderly patients at the Seniors Clinic are getting enough vitamin D from their diet and over-the-counter supplements. Another goal is to see if pharmacist education about diet and dietary supplements can increase vitamin D levels.
