This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We are evaluating the effect of flow-mediated vasodilatation in patients with cirrhosis compared to healthy individuals and to correlate this with the patients' Child score and body fat mass. We will include 15 cirrhotic, 15 decompensated cirrhotic and 15 normal individuals without risk factors for vascular disease who are under 50 years of age. Study-related procedures include body fat analysis and flow-mediated vasodilation before and after administration of nitroglycerin sublingually
