This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study is examining the relationship between vascular function and depression in the elderly. Subjects between the ages of 50 and 90 who have either unipolar major or minor depressive disorder associated with cerebrovascular disease will have resistance and conduit vessel function measured before undergoing a separate NIMH-funded depression treatment study. Subjects will then repeat the vessel function measures immediately following the end of the depression treatment as well as 12 weeks following the end of the depression treatment.
