We hypothesize that the extent to which levels of F2-isoprostanes, products of free radical mediated lipid peroxidation, increase in plasma following forearm ischemia/reperfusion induced by inflating and deflating a blood pressure cuff will provide an accurate assessment of an individual's total antioxidant capacity and that this is impaired in the elderly.
