Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Hypothesis 1: In comparison to the general population, the prevalence of sleep disordered breathing in IPF is increased.Hypothesis 2:Treating OSA with CPAP therapy wil resolve excessive daytime sleepiness, lessen fatique, improve sleep quality, improve nocturnal saturations, improve nocturnal ventilation , and may impact survival.Hypothesis 3: Treating sleep apnea with CPAP therapy will lessen cough.
