Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The hypothesis to be tested is that hydroxychloroquine will reduce neutophils, active elastase, ad proinflammatory cytokines (without and increase in bacterial burden) in induced sputum after 4 weeks of therapy in patients with CF, and that it will increase the pH of exhaled breath condensate (EBC) collected at the same time points.
