The objective of this proposed research is to examine, in general terms, the physiology of ovulatory function in women with symptomatic endometriosis. Women with endometriosis consistently experience abnormalities in folliculogenesis, ovulation and early function of the corpus luteum, resulting in a hormonal environment conductive to the development of endometriosis and associated symptoms. This study will serve to clarify the potential for subtle derangements in the physiology of the menstrual cycle to be caustive factors in the pathophysiology of pelvic endometriosis.
