Purpose of study was to determine if garlic extract can alleviate the dyspnea and/or hypoxemia in patients with Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS), and to investigate garlic's effect on nitric oxide. Thirty-five patients were screened and three were diagnosed with HPS. Two have been on garlic for the condition and both had improvement in their oxygenation. The study has been terminated as the Primary Investigator has left the institution, but data will be analyzed for publication in various journals with appropriate citation to the GCRC.
