The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Dietary fiber is known to affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, although there are significant differences among dietary fiber on their abililty to alter GI health. The objective of this study is to compare the physiological responses of 4 dietary fibers in normal human subjects, as compared to a placebo treatment. Secondary aims of the study are to measure the effects of dietary fibers on blood chemistries, including blood lipids, glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein, and gut hormones.
