Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
Specific Aim 1 : To follow the cohort of 285 patients with type 1 DM completing the 5-year RASS, one-third of whom were on ACEi, one-third on ARB, and one-third on placebo, for a further 10 years with annual measurements of albumin excretion rate (AER), blood pressure (BP) and bi-annual measurement of glomerular filtration rate (GFR).
Specific Aim 2 : To follow the cohort of 285 patients with type 1 DM completing the 5-year RASS for a further 10 years with 3 interval assessments of fundus photographs.
