This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will examine associations between specific genetic markers and long-term health outcomes in patients with ankylosing spondylitis of 20 or more years. This will be done in a one time study visit to assess disease progress in terms of radiological and functional outcomes. Additionally, we will test associations between specific genetic markers and the severity of inflammation in patients with ankylosing spondylitis of 10 years or less. These patients will be monitored for 26 months to assess disease progression in terms of radiological and functional outcomes.
