Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Determine the effect of androgens on granulosa cell response to FSH in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and normal women. Various studies have demonstrated that androgens enhance granulosa cell function in a variety of animal species. We plan to address this possibility by examining in vivo granulosa cell responsiveness to FSH following blockade of androgen effect by administration of an anti-androgen, flutamide to PCOS and normal women.
