In most patients, the cause is unknown and no effective treatment exists. To study possible causes in a person's genetic material, the Western ALS Consortium [WALS] researchers need blood samples and some basic health-related medical and family history information from patients. This study is collecting the blood samples and information for targeted research into the causes of ALS aiming towards targeted drug treatment in ALS.
