This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The primary objectives of this study are as follows:1) (Virologic) to determine if the addition of abacavir decreases viral replication in subjects with viral suppression achieved with indinavir and efavirenz;2) (Virologic) to estimate the decay rate of free virus after the addition of abacavir;3) (Immunologic) to characterize HIV immune responses in a cohort of patients with sustained viral suppression for 4 years;4) (Immunologic) to determine if increased and/or amplified HIV immune responses are observed when antiretroviral therapy is augmented with abacavir.
