This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This proposal will test the hypothesis that leptin contributes to the regulation of the dynamics of human endocrine function. This hypothesis will be tested by three separate, but complementary, specific aims: (1)Elucidation of the role of leptin in the regulation of the human pituitary-adrenal axis. (2)Elucidation of the role of leptin in the regulation of the human pituitary-gonadal axis. (3)Elucidation of the role of leptin in the regulation of the human pituitary-thyroid axis.
