This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. In volunteer subjects with adult-onset myotonic dystrophy (AMD), we will determine trinucleotide mutation length through commercial laboratory testing, perform detailed neuropsychological testing with special emphasis on visual-spatial-organizational abilities typically associated with Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NVLD), compare age-matched and sex-matched normal control subjects, compare mutation length with neurocognitive test scores, and evaluate personality type through methods used in published studies.
