This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is - 1) To compare the single-dose plasma concentration versus time profile for daptomycin in morbidly obese subjects compared to matched healthy normal weight volunteers. 2) To compare differences in daptomycin renal clearance and protein binding in these two populations. 3) To derive an equation that better predicts daptomycin clearance in morbidly obese and normal weight subjects based on GFR and CLcr estimates.
