This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The proposed study is a phase I, 2-site, 2-dose tier study that will evaluate the safety of image-guided 20 Hz rTMS in the treatment of patients with hemiparesis after subcortical stroke. The proposed study aims to evaluate a method that can modify brain function, high frequency (20Hz) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), for which there are no reports of safety or clinical efficacy in patients with chronic stroke. The target population is patients with chronic motor deficits due to a subcortical stroke.
