This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Lipodystrophy may be accompanied by unique changes in body fat, hormone levels, and menstrual function in women. In this cross-sectional study, we will determine hormone levels, nutritional status, body fat, bone density, ovarian function, and carotid thickness in HIV-infected women as compared to healthy control subjects. Subjects are followed over 2 years with visits every 6 months to see if changes occur.
