This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Most patients who are diagnosed with Crohn's disease will have periods of relapse and periods of remission. The purpose of the study is to be able to measure the activity level of Crohn's disease by measuring a number of markers of inflammation in blood, urine, and stool. Our improved understanding of the causes of Crohn's disease has led to the idea that by measuring certain substances found in the blood, urine, and stool, we can accurately measure a patient's disease activity.
