This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to determine if the use of a contrast material, taken by mouth, makes it easier to find masses or polyps in the colon and rectum using a recently developed procedure, called virtual colonoscopy (VC). The VC will be performed two times during one clinic visit, first with and second without contrast. After the second VC, the findings of the two VCs will be validated using a conventional colonoscopy (CC). A total of 200 patients, ages 40+ for whom CC is indicated will be included.
