Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. To evaluate sex-differences in acoustic noise interference during fMRI in seronegative healthy volunteers. To determine the effect of fMRI-acoustic noise on fMRI studies in HIV-positive men (due to the larger inter-subject variability in HIV patients on fMRI, for this preliminary study we will first evaluate the effects in men). To determine the relationship between acoustic noise-related changes in fMRI and metabolite concentrations (on MRS) in the brain for healthy volunteers and HIV patients.
