We are investigating how its absorption from the intestine is affected by the use of other commonly used medications. The specific medications which we are interested in studying are ezetimibe (Zetia), a cholesterol lowering agent; chromium picolinate, an over-the-counter mineral supplement used for diabetes and weight control; and selelamer hydrochloride (Renegal), a medication used to lower blood phosphorus level in patients with kidney disease. All of these medications have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or are available over the counter without a prescription.
