This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The overall objective of this National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funded longitudinal study is to establish the short- and longer-term reliability of hormone levels and dysregulations in patterns of secretion as possible mechanisms involved in antisocial behavior problems and negative emotions in pubertal age adolescents. Dysregulation is operationalized as to deviations from the normative 24-hour circadian secretion of hormone concentrations. Embedded in this overall objective is the aim of addressing how the experiences that children encounter in their environment (home, school and neighborhood) affect the functioning of the endocrine system at puberty.
