This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We are recruiting COPD patients requiring supplemental oxygen who receive their portable oxygen system by E-cylinders. These subjects will be randomized to either remain using E-cylinders or will be given small, lightweight ambulatory oxygen systems using M06D carbon fiber cylinders. The primary outcome will be to determine whether either group uses oxygen for more hours per week.
