This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. There is a need to determine the appropriate needle length for adolescents receiving intramuscular immunization and determine if it is influenced by patient age, gender, body weight, and/or administration technique. This can be accomplished utilizing ultrasound technique to obtain objective measurements of muscle depth and distance to bone at the deltoid injection site.
